Reservation and bookings : The reservation tickets for various bus services can be booked in advance through its website, mobiles apps or at the reservation counters nearby you.
TNSTC Ticket Cancellation Policy : Cancellation of e-ticket / Mobile tickets is allowed only up to 1 hour before the scheduled departure of the bus service from the Origin Point and after that cancellation will not be allowed. Further, cancellation can be done only before 9 PM for the current date journey after 10 PM and next day journey before 7 AM.
TNSTC Refunds:
The refund amount depends on the time left at the point of cancellation and the deduction details are listed below;
- 10% deduction of fare if the ticket is cancelled before 48 hours of scheduled departure time
- 20% deduction for ticket cancelled in between 24 – 48 hours from the time of departure
- 25% is deducted if the ticket is cancelled in between 60 minutes and 24 hours before the scheduled journey.
- No refund for tickets cancelled below 60 minutes from the time of journey or for untraveled tickets.

On 07.11.2018 I traveled from Thanjavur(9.20Pm) to Pondicherry(2.50am) in the bus which came from Karur
( Route Karur, Trichy, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Chidambaram) with my 11 years old son (With Original Government Age Proof in hand because in the same bus My Wife traveled with my son on 28.10.2018 the same conductor behaved very Harsh ). While taking ticket Conductor given full ticket because my son height shows above 130 Cms.
I told that iam having original Age Proof.But that Conductor shouted that he is working for more than 22 years and says that if the child cross 130 cm he will give only full ticket.
I tried to show the website proof about the Half ticket Rules, But he is not ready to hear and blamed me iam wrong to the co passengers. My Ticket No:094734 & 094735

On September 7, 2018, I and my 24 years old son took the bus from Ooty to Madurai departing from Ooty at 6:45 pm. Bus. The conductor’s name plate read ‘TT RAMESH.’
My concern is that the conductor played ear drums piercing extremely loud music in the bus throughout the entire 8 hour overnight journey from Ooty to Madurai. Me, my son, and two other passengers requested the conductor to reduce the volume but the conductor did not comply. When we attempted to reduce the volume slightly, the conductor and the driver became super angry. The driver stopped the bus, they both started yelling at us, and the conductor almost hit my son. Thankfully the other two men who were also objecting to the volume and were big and burly in physical stature intervened and prevented my son from getting hurt. After witnessing this none of the passengers including us dared object to anything.
Further, after it grew dark hords of cockroach type insects filled the bus and were climbing everywhere as the bus was extremely dirty.
I fail to understand as to why huge speakers were installed in the bus in the first place when there were no announcements that needed to be made at any time during the ride.
If the Government’s intention to install HUGE speakers was to help the driver stay awake then why were the speakers installed on the passengers side, highly inconveniencing the passengers. Small speakers could be installed next to the driver’s seat so that only the driver would be listening to the music all night long and would not have to play the music at full volume so that the music could reach his ears.
I sincerely hope that TNSTC will investigate the matter and take steps to make the journey better and safer for passengers. Maybe an official can try taking the bus without disclosing their identity and experience the journey themselves.

I am daily traveling kanchipuram to perungalathur. I finish my work daily 10 p.m and waiting for my bus no 79 or 155. But for the fast 3 months, I am very disappointed in the bus timings. Most of the buses went through mudichur via. Many passengers like me are disgreted. So many times I called customers care, no one could attend phone. Many times I went manimangalam to catch the bus, the driver could not stop the bus. One time I harshly complained in the perungalathur depot, they cooledly said,we don’t know,the concern conductors aren’t come to sign .,you may complained in tambaram depot. As a passenger what I can do? Last Wednesday night I am waiting10.15 pm to 12.30 pm no bus can’t come and I got 504 uthiramerur bus and went chengalpattu there also no bus to kanchipuram. That night I won’t go to my house.This indicates worst administration . I Want to know which is the correct bus route? The government is for people just mind it .

I’m so much disappointed to post this comment here.I’m a 22 year old girl working in software field. Frankly speaking, I chose my work location as Chennai just because of a belief that girls are more safe in Tamilnadu than even my state(Kerala).But with a broken heart,today I realised that Tamilnadu is the worst place where a girl can work in. The culture of this state is degrading day by day.
Incident : I boarded TN01AN0613 (95 Tambaram bus from Shollinganallur at around 7:15-7:20pm on 30th March 2017.Io took ticket till HCL. But the bus didn’t stop at my destination. I asked the conductor to stop,knocked several times to make them realise that it’s night time,please stop. The people were just dumb.None of them asked him to stop.It’s a usual thing to enjoy seeing how others are suffering. Such culture less people. The conductor shouted like,to get down here u must board the bus from back door.I didn’t board the bus from back door because it was totally crowded with gents. after all, there’s no rules anywhere that to get down at nearby places u should board from backdoor,for Far away places board from front door. Do we have such rules? Correct me if I’m wrong.
Then the bus stopped almost 1km away(please consider the time,it was night) and those who know the route shollinganallur-HCl-medavakkam, please note how lonely that place is. One side of the road is a canal kind of thing.Somehow I managed to walk from there. And to my further disappointment ,a man coming in bike commented at me something in Tamil and he went off. This is the culture of the people here. So sad. Chennai is the worst place.There’s no consideration that you are a girl or it’s night time. They will not think how bad the situation would be if something happens. Everyone responds only when something serious happens to a girl and when it seeks public attention.Until then everyone will enjoy seeing how people suffer.Why can’t we think of avoiding such incidents??
I was all alone to walk and this is not happening for the first time. Most of the conductors in Tamil nadu state transport never bother to stop the bus at the bus stop.If they feel like giving a whistle,then they may. It’s not at all certain that U can get down at your destination.Did I ask him to stop the bus inside my office room?? I just asked him to stop the bus at the BUS STOP. Then why do we need waiting sheds and BUS stops. As I mentioned,this is not the first time, mostly they won’t stop at bus stops.
I want to bring this to the notice of the officials. But even the customer care/complaint number given here is not working.Nobody is picking up.This really sucks.
Today I suffered that insecure feeling to walk through the lanes of Chennai.I’m also having all the rights to walk without fear but what if I’m denied of that right?? today i booked Madurai to Chennai from TNSTC service .so bus time was 9:20pm .but bus leaving the terminus at 10:30pm .so we ask to conductor he say like when bus seat fully occupied at that time only bus leave the terminus. so what is the use of online booking i do not understand.
I booked three tickets from kumbakonam to chennai through advance booking.they charged690Rs for a class ultra delux bus.but they arranged super delux bus (super delux bus fare and convenience is lesser than ultradelux bus) reularly they are doing the same .regarding this I contact Mr VARADHARAJAN (ASSISTANT ENGINEER) .He didnt response politely and also properly I want justice for this !!!!! (kumbakonam to chennai fare is 175 for super delux but they collect 230/-for advance booking

TNSTC Customer Care Number for e-booking/mobile booking – 044-25364656. This is the only one number available. One number may not be possible to cater the entire state requirement. Hence more number of service line along with additional man power may be thought to cater the requirement.

I am daily travelling from gandhipurem by town bus.Everytime conductor saying no changes.Each town bus ticket categories is various.So we are having 10,20,5 Rs.only.from gandhipuram to Nehru Nager delux bus ticket rate i dont know.So I gave Rs.20 in this bus(TN:38 N:2196) Route number 115). I have taken one ticket. Ticket rate rs.11.00 .Conductor easly saying no balance.he is not give remaining balance Rs.9.00..I did not getting remaining balance also.
